SmartCapture offers a new way to manually control Mavic Air to take photos or videos as you like. It is so intuitive and simple that even novice pilots can master it. Now let's take a look! (Please note that using SmartCapture requires drone firmware to be v1.0.1.0 or later).
- Enter SmartCapture mode
Place the aircraft on a flat surface, turn it on and activate SmartCapture on DJI GO 4 or press the Power button twice. The front LED lights will turn solid yellow and the drone will beep twice.
- Gesture Launch
Stand 2 to 3 m in front of the aircraft, raise your palm for about 2 seconds and wait for PalmControl to activate. Once the PalmControl has been successfully activated, the front LEDs will slowly flash green, the drone will take off and hover in place.
- PalmControl
Stand 2m in front of the aircraft and place your palm towards the camera for 2 seconds to activate PalmControl. The front LEDs will slowly flash green to indicate that PalmControl has been activated. Then you can control the drone with your palm.
- Control Distance
Stand in front of the "nose" of the aircraft, raise and extend your arms and keep your palms together. Front LEDs slowly blink green. Move your hands apart and the aircraft will fly away from you at a maximum distance of 6m. Move your hands together and the aircraft will fly towards you at a minimum distance of 2m.
- Follow
Lower your hand to the ground to activate Follow. After the monitoring function is activated, the front LEDs will be solid green.
You can select Trace or Profile in DJI GO 4 to control your aircraft. With the Follow function, you can adjust the position and distance of the aircraft with your palm.
- Selfie
Stand 7m in front of the aircraft and make a V gesture with one hand. When the selfie gesture is recognized, a 3-second countdown will start.
When two seconds remain, the front LEDs will slowly flash red, and when one second remains, the LEDs will begin to rapidly flash red. The front LEDs will turn off when taking a photo.
- Group Selfie
When you do multiple V gestures, Group Selfie will be activated.
The Mavic Air will take a photo in her current position. It will then fly to a spot 5m away from your team, climb up and take a photo at a 30 angle. The aircraft will then fly to a point 7m away from your team, climb up and take another photo at a 15 angle. Finally, it will fly back to its original position.
- Record Videos
Stand 7m in front of the aircraft and make a frame gesture with your fingers. When the frame gesture is recognized, the aircraft will start recording.
During recording, the front LEDs will turn off. After 5 seconds pass, doing the box gesture again will stop the recording.
- Switching Control
In SmartCapture, the person controlling the Mavic Air can be changed at any time.
Lower your hand to the ground and the person who would like to control the aircraft should raise their palm in front of the drone. Once the aircraft is under his control, the front LEDs will slowly flash green.
- Gesture Land
To land the Mavic Air, move your palm slowly to bring the aircraft to its minimum altitude.
Keep lowering the drone for another 3 seconds, then it will land automatically and the motors will stop. The front LEDs will turn yellow and the aircraft will wait for further instructions.
